AI Email Assistant

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools have revolutionized workplace productivity by automating repetitive tasks, providing data-driven insights, and enhancing decision-making processes. In this activity, we will explore how AI can serve as a writing partner when you are responding to emails in the workplace.

AI Property Management Assistants[1]

The District at Cypress Waters is an apartment complex in Dallas, Texas. The property management team there includes:

  • Matt, a friendly and helpful maintenance coordinator who takes requests and manages appointments
  • Lisa, who answers leasing questions from prospective tenants in a professional and informative way
  • Hunter, who reminds tenants to pay rent in a stern and authoritative tone

Matt, Lisa, and Hunter are all AI-powered chatbots. The human property manager, Jason Busboom, chose the tone that each chatbot uses. Because the chatbots are always available to respond to messages, the human staff working at the District have more time to focus on other aspects of their jobs, and this has made it much easier for them to coordinate vacation time.

These virtual assistants can ask follow-up questions to help identify the exact maintenance issue a tenant is having. They can also show a video tutorial so that a tenant can take an intermediate step, such as turning off the water in case of a leak, before a person can be there to do the repair.

While AI bots may be able to make providing services more cost-effective and efficient, some people feel the bots lack an authentic human touch. Others get frustrated when they present a more complicated problem that the bot is not programmed to handle.

How might tenants’ trust in property management companies be affected if they are not informed that they are interacting with A.I. bots?
