Using Maslow’s hierarchy, analyze which levels of needs might be met by remote work versus in-office work environments. Why might different employees prioritize different needs?

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs includes five levels:

  1. First Level – Physiological needs: Basic survival needs like food, water, air, and sleep.

  2. Second Level – Safety needs: Protection, security, and stability in daily life.

  3. Third Level – Social needs: Love, belonging, and relationships with others.

  4. Fourth Level – Esteem needs: Respect, recognition, and feeling accomplished.

  5. Fifth Level – Self-actualization needs: Achieving personal potential and self-fulfillment.
