Teamwork[1]
Teamwork is a skill that you use whenever you work in a group. Teamwork is important whether you are working with just one other person or dozens in a large group. The skill of teamwork involves building and maintaining collaborative relationships to work effectively toward your common goals, while appreciating diverse viewpoints and shared responsibilities. Building relationships also requires good communication skills and working together will involves some planning and coordination between team members.
Here are some examples of teamwork in action:
- Listening carefully to others while taking time to understand and ask appropriate questions without interrupting
- Effectively managing conflict whether it involves mediating between teammates or meeting ambiguity in your work with a proactive attitude
- Interacting with and respecting diverse personalities
- Being accountable for individual and team responsibilities and deliverables
- Using your personal strengths, knowledge, and talents to complement those of your teammates
- Exercising the ability to compromise
- Establishing and maintaining a strong, positive working relationship with supervisor and team members/coworkers
