  • Create a custom color theme

When creating external documents for a company it can be helpful to use the company’s branding and color scheme. Create a new powerpoint document titled LastName_Branding.pptx. Choose any design for your PowerPoint, then choose a company logo to create a custom color theme for.

When building a custom color theme it’s important to check for accessibility. With colors, we want to be sure there is a high enough contrast between the background color and foreground color (text) on the screen. We can use websites like the one here to check accessibility. Use the dropper tool to select colors from your theme and make sure your colors pass. The minimum requirement is 4.5:1, but consider using higher contrasts to ensure readability. The image displays a list of four color combinations with their corresponding hexadecimal codes, written in the colors they represent: Gray (#767676) on white - The text "Gray (#767676) on white" is in gray color with a white background. Blue (#000063) on gray (#808080) - The text "Blue (#000063) on gray (#808080)" is in blue color with a gray background.
