In a one-on-one situation, if the person you\u2019re talking to gets lost or needs more explanation, they\u2019ll just ask. In a group situation, they may be too embarrassed, or they may ask long after you\u2019ve moved on. Thus, it is essential that as a presenter you do the following:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use navigation language. It becomes even more important with more distractions on the call.<\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regulate your pace so you don\u2019t speed through your information.<\/li>\r\n\t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pause briefly between slides, worksheets, sections, or pages to help people recognize that you\u2019re moving on.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>If you are sharing slides, animations can help people stay engaged. This is not to say that you should have text or images swooping in and dancing on the page in a dizzying way. Rather, making your bullet points appear one at a time or having a piece of your pie chart flash when you start to talk about it can help your listeners re-engage with the slides.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Chatting While Presenting<\/h3>\r\n<p>Most video conferencing platforms have a chat function that you can choose to use. If you do, it\u2019s good to set some ground rules about how participants should engage with the chat.
